App Store Keyword Difficulty Checker
Type an App Store keyword and see how hard its top-10 is to beat — a 0–100 difficulty computed live from the real store results, with every competitor's strength broken down. Free, no signup; it runs in your browser.
Difficulty measures competition only. Search demand, relevance and ready-to-ship metadata are in the full app.

How this difficulty is computed (no black box)
For the keyword's top-10 store results, each app gets a strength from four measured signals, then the ten strengths are blended with more weight on the higher positions:
- Ratings volume (45%) —
log₁₀(ratingCount+1)/6, capped at 1. A 1M-review giant is not 1000× a 1k app, but it's a lot harder. - Name match (25%) — 1.0 if the app's name contains your keyword in full, 0.5 if it contains all the words, 0 otherwise. Exact-match names dominate a query.
- Rating quality (15%) — average stars ÷ 5.
- Freshness (15%) — how recently it was updated (linear over the last year). A stale app is easier to pass.
This is the exact difficulty formula the full ASOptimus app uses. It's a measurement, not a guess — every number above traces to Apple's public search response.
Difficulty is one of three numbers that matter
This free tool shows you competition. The full app adds demand (how many people actually search a phrase) and relevance (whether those searchers want an app like yours) — then assembles a ready-to-ship title, subtitle and keyword field from the winners. Free during beta, no card.
